Balık temizlerken aldığım kokudan Liberya ve Ruanda’da çekilen iç savaş fotoğraflarını hatırlıyorum. Ama bu kokunun başka bir savaşta farklı olduğunu da sanmıyorum.

I remember the photographs of civil wars in Liberia and Rwanda from the smell of a fish that I’m cleaning. But, I don’t think this smell is so different in any other war.

Bundan sonra blog yazılarımı hem Türkçe hem de İngilizce yazmaya çalışacağım. Çevirinin anlatılanı birebir karşılayabileceğine inanmıyorum, ancak yazdıklarımı ortak dilimizin İngilizce olduğu arkadaşlarımın da okuyabilmesini istiyorum. Elbette çeviremediğim ya da çevirilemeyecek yazılar olacaktır, Türkçe bilmeyenlerin bunu anlayışla karşılayacağını umuyorum.

I’ll try to write my blog entries in both Turkish and English from now on. I don’t believe that a translation of a text can be a verbatim correspondent of the original but I also want my friends -that the only common language between us is English- to read my writings. Of course there will be texts that I can not translate or can’t be translated. I hope the people don’t know Turkish will understand me regarding these.
